Ceramics
Ms O'Donovan's Class and Ms Harte's/Ms Calnan's class got hands on with clay as part of our Creative Cluster theme, 'Vitamin Sea'. Under the expert guidance of artist Bernadette, the children have were busy designing, creating and painting their very own ocean-inspired masterpieces.
From textured seashells to colourful sea creatures, the classroom was a sea of creativity! Bernadette has now taken the pieces away to be fired in a kiln, and we are all eagerly awaiting their return as finished ceramic tiles.
The Creative Process
The project wasn't just about getting hands on with clay; it was a full artistic journey:
Design: Pupils sketched ocean inspired ideas, focusing on the "Vitamin Sea" theme.
Sculpting: Learning techniques like pinching, adding texture, and smoothing to bring their ideas to life.
Detailing & Painting: Adding vibrant glazes and patterns to give each piece its own personality.
We want to say thank you to Bernadette for sharing her incredible talent and patience with us. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience, learning new skills while having a fantastic time getting hands on and creative with art.
