Bealtaine Wildlife Safari

29th Apr 2026

Earlier today, our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Class pupils swapped the classroom for the great outdoors for a fantastic Bealtaine Wildlife Safari. As part of the Heritage in Schools scheme, we were thrilled to welcome wildlife expert Calvin Jones, who led our young explorers on an immersive tour of our local environment.

The children were kept busy with plenty of hands-on fieldwork. They spent their time spotting vibrant native wildflowers and blossoming trees in full spring glory while observing the busy nesting activity of local birds. The safari was a true sensory experience, allowing the pupils to listen to birdsong and search for hidden signs of life, including mammal tunnels, animal tracks, and even tadpoles in their natural habitat.

Calvin shared fascinating insights into our native wild bees, butterflies, and the summer migrants that have just arrived on our shores. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to connect with nature and appreciate the incredible biodiversity right on our doorstep. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Calvin Jones for sharing his incredible expertise and passion with our pupils today.
