INSPA – Ireland's National School Photography Awards - is the national children’s photography competition and Positive Primaries Programme which was open to all primary schools in the Republic of Ireland. Throughout the 2020/21 school year, young creatives from around the country were encouraged to embed Creative Wellbeing into our school community while exploring the theme: Accessible Places | Safer Spaces in association with the Children’s Rights Alliance. Through the weekly school newsletter, our school community was invited to send photographs to the school. We were thrilled to learn last week that we have a National Winner! The winner of the Junior Category is Katie O'Rourke from 2nd class with her entry Good Morning Ireland. Katie has won a break away for herself and her family to Wexford, a camera for herself and the school as well as framed copies of her winning photo. There has been interest from local media about her success. She had an interview by phone with a reporter from The Southern Star last week in the school office. Katie was so professional answering the questions;

“I took this photo during lockdown when children were not allowed to go anywhere. I was doing online learning. Tommy, my brother, could not wait to go outside that morning. He still had his pyjamas on. We loved playing outside. We did a lot of games. It made us realise how lucky we are to live in Ireland. I took the photo with my Mammy’s phone. I actually need a camera as my one is old and needs lots of photos. I love taking photos!”
