Decade of Centuries - Máire Ní Shíthe Project

The ‘Decade of Centenaries’ is an all-island schools history competition for primary and post primary schools sponsored by the Department of Education and Skills, the Department of Education in Northern Ireland (DENI), Mercier Press and University College Cork School of History. There were a total of 4 categories and we entered our Máire Ní Shíthe project under the “local/regional studies theme from a century ago” category. We were delighted to win and we attended a prize-giving ceremony in the Aula Maxima, UCC, in April 2017.

The following is the prizewinning student project from the All-Island History Competition 2017 within the category of local/regional issues. The project explores the life and work of Máire Ní Shíthe. Students rein-act Máire Ní Shíthe's life and created a photobook from their photographs.
