As part of the Decade of Commemoration Initiative, The Network of Education Centres ran a number of projects focusing on Remembering 1916.
The initiative supported schools in their preparation for the Proclamation Day on March 15th 2016.
The aim of the 1916 initiative was to encourage students to research, reflect, find and observe history in their own local area. We wer thrilled to win 3 of the categories.
Family Life in 1916: First & Second Classes Winner: Timoleague National School
Community and Cultural Life : Third & Fourth Classes Winner- Timoleague National School
Local Historical Event, Circa 1916: Fifth & Sixth Classes Winner- Timoleague National School
Each winner was selected locally from each category and received a specially commissioned trophy that was presented by Mary O’Donovan, Director, West Cork Education Centre
